Alabama Latest State to Approve AutoTax

AIMS' software solution files motor fuel taxes electronically

MONROE, La. -- AutoTax, AIMS Inc.'s solution for electronically filing motor fuel tax schedules has been approved by the state of Alabama. AutoTax is a software program designed to be a cost-efficient solution for marketers who must file their motor fuel tax schedules electronically.

More states now either require or allow petroleum marketers to file motor fuel tax reports electronically. Others states AutoTax has been approved for this year include New Mexico, Texas, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Montana.

"AutoTax provides every marketer an easy-to-use e-filing and reporting solution, tailored to each state's unique filing format. Each state certifies that AutoTax can correctly produce the specific file format required by that state," said David Dorries, director of sales and marketing. To meet each state's unique file requirements, AutoTax produces numerous file formats, including EDI (electronic data interchange), XML, Excel, .csv and more.

A marketer imports motor fuel tax data, produced by the marketer's accounting system, into AutoTax, which converts that data into the file format required by each state and creates a file that can be transmitted to the state's revenue department.

For marketers not using AIMS accounting software, AIMS can provide conversion software that will prepare your data to be imported into AutoTax.

AutoTax is cloud-based technology that requires no additional hardware or software. Its innovative design allows marketers to begin using it immediately. AutoTax can be used by both AIMS' accounting software clients and marketers who are using another company's accounting software.

In business since 1968, Monroe, La.-based AIMS develops, markets and supports a variety of software, services and solutions for the wholesale petroleum distribution industry. Products include COMPAS Commander, a complete fuel wholesale and retail accounting software system developed in a true Windows environment; AutoTax, a standalone tax solution; AutoSend, a specialized UST fuel inventory management and dispatching software system; and AutoSIR, an in-house Statistical Inventory Reconciliation software system.
