Clark Offers Web Application

Adds Internet communication option to card processing through EchoSat

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Clark Brands has added a high-speed internet communication option to its credit card processing platforms. Offered with its preferred vendor, EchoSat Communications Group, Lexington, Ky., Clark's Internet Communication Program allows retailers to use a secure Internet connection either through a DSL or cable provider to communicate with Clark's credit card processing networks.

We are pleased to be able to offer our licensees and their customers the option to use the Internet to transmit their payment transactions, said Karl Goodhouse, [image-nocss] Clark's president.

The EchoSat solution uses a secure payment gateway (SPG) router developed with EchoSat code and is coupled with a managed firewall system. This system provides a highly secure network for all credit card data transmission. Both the SPG and the firewall are requirements for integrated point-of-sale (POS) systems. In this way, Clark is able to achieve the dual objectives of offering its retailer the opportunity to improve their processing speeds and secure data transmission.

Clark's Internet Communication Program powered by EchoSat is available for most POS types supported on Clark's network, such as Ruby Verifone and Gilbarco G-Site. It is also available for locations using the Verifone Omni 3750, which Clark specifies must have dual communication ports.

Naperville, Ill.-based Clark licensees contract separately with EchoSat, who manages the secure private network for transmitting payment transaction data to Clark's credit card networks. EchoSat provides monthly network and firewall management, 24/7 helpdesk service and troubleshooting. Retailers are responsible for the installation and monthly costs of DSL or cable Internet service.

We're proud of the trust and responsibility that Clark Brands has placed in EchoSat to implement and manage their Secure Private Network, says Spencer Rutherford, EchoSat's President. Rutherford goes on to say, It's great to work with folks like Clark Brands that understand the credit network system. Clark also understands that their retailers require fast credit network communications in order to provide excellent customer service and to meet the expectation level of today's fast paced, busy motorists.

EchoSat's advanced [SPG] also allows retailers to have fast credit/debit and EBT transactions without a costly upgrade to their current dial-up POS system, said Spencer Rutherford, EchoSat's president. EchoSat's SPG even works with standalone, standbeside and common swipe devices. When coupled with Clark's managed firewall protection and EchoSat's 24X7 help desk, retailers have peace of mind that their transactions will be fast and secure.

Clark Brands owns the Clark family of brands. The company licenses the Clark gasoline brand and the Four Corners Coffee brand to independent petroleum marketers and retailers in 17 states.

EchoSat is a national communication solutions company specializing in electronic funds transfers (EFT). In a highly secure environment, EchoSat transports EFT, electronic reports and communications between store sites, headquarters and credit networks. It provides retailers, convenience, grocery, drug stores and quick-serve restaurants with the ability to transport transactions in the two-to-three-second speed range without the necessity of upgrading to more expensive POS equipment, it said.
