ConocoPhillips Approves POS System

Gilbarco Veeder-Root releases Passport V.5

HOUSTON -- The ConocoPhillips payment network has approved Gilbarco Veeder-Root's newest version of its touchscreen point-of-sale (POS) system, Passport Version 5.

This release makes Passport available to a much wider range of retailers. Passport Version 5 can control dispensers with pay-at-the-pump from Gilbarco or Dresser Wayne. Retailers with security cameras or cash acceptors on their fueling islands can now interface with those items directly through this new version of Passport. In addition, it can accept fleet-fueling cards, as Version 5 has a [image-nocss] full interface for Mannatec and Commercial Fueling Network (CFN) payment systems.

This is a significant milestone for customers whocould not use Passport previously, said Kirsten Paust, vice president of global retail systems for Greensboro, N.C.-based Gilbarco Veeder-Root. Passport Version 5 is now approved on most of the major oil company networks to benefit multi-branded retailers.

She added, It provides powerful merchandising tools and seamlessly integrates with other equipment on site. The simplicity of operating and maintaining the system enables retailers to focus more of their time on providing excellent service.

Dan Kernan, pricebook manager for R. H. Smith in Grandview, Wash., was one of the first ConocoPhillips retailers to get Passport Version 5 during field trials. He operates seven Smitty's Conoco locations and has been able to reduce three POS systems to just one. We are impressed with how simple and user-friendly Passport is, Kernan said. Tracking, category management, and shelf management are much easier. We are able to define the reports to give us the specific information we need in a format that's easy to use.

Gilbarco Veeder-Root and Gasboy are leading suppliers of integrated fuel control, site management, and support services for petroleum marketers and commercial fueling enterprises worldwide.
