Consumers Can See Right Through These Sales Pitches

iDOOR’s transparent point-of-purchase video display gives retailers ability to engage customers

SYLMAR, Calif. -- Anthony International has introduced the iDOOR for convenience stores and other retailers. It uses a transparent LCD embedded within refrigeration cooler or freezer doors that plays full motion video at the point of purchase.

The technology integrates Real Digital Media’s NEOCAST digital signage platform.

This patented technology allows video and animation in full HD (1920 x 1080) to be played on the door while giving customers the ability to still see the products contained within the cooler or freezer.

The iDOOR represents an advance in digital signage that combines digital technology and in-store merchandising strategies that delivers proximity-based messaging for improved shopper engagement and conversion.

This technology delivers high-definition visual promotions that target and connects with shoppers’ lifestyle and demographics. This next-generation digital platform provides shopper engagement by placing actionable messages in the shoppers’ line of sight and within arm’s reach of the product, said the company.

The iDOOR is a digital solution for cooler and freezer door lineups that connects the shopper, message and product at the same time, allowing retailers to understand and engage with customers’ changing eating and shopping habits on a more relevant and personal level, the company said.

This technology also delivers day-parted messaging and allows retailers to meta-tag stores by environmental factors. The iDOOR displays messages based on the time of day, day of the week or special events and seasons.

“The iDOOR will revolutionize how retailers merchandise their brands, increase impulse purchases and engage with customers through cooler and freezer refrigeration glass doors,” said Anthony president Craig Little. “The iDOOR is a powerful tool for grocery and convenience store retailers to connect customers with limited-time offers (LTOs) and store brand messages at the point of purchase.”

Ken Goldberg, CEO of Sarasota, Fla.-based Real Digital Media, said, “iDOOR is poised to transform cooler and freezer merchandising across convenience stores, grocery and fuel stations, and places digital signage at the core of strategic planning for retailers and brands in this space. This solution leverages the strengths of Anthony and Real Digital Media, considerable engineering insights, patented IP and deep market knowledge. The result is a high-value application of digital signage that appeals to retailers and their vendor partners, as well as the consumer.”

The companies have tested it at Circle K and 7-Eleven franchisees, as well as several undisclosed grocers, with an eye to also moving into drug stores, according to an Advertising Agereport. Anthony has approximately 600,000 doors installed nationwide that could theoretically be retrofitted with the ad system, Carre' Bistline, the company's director of business development for digital signage solutions, told the publication.

Sylmar, Calif.-based Anthony, A Dover Co., is a manufacturer and solutions provider of glass doors, lighting systems and display equipment for use in commercial refrigeration systems.
