E.J. Pope & Son Selects RedPrairie Software

Handy Mart will use BlueCube Enterprise solution

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. -- E.J. Pope & Son Inc., dba Handy Mart, has purchased RedPrairie Corp.'s BlueCube Enterprise Software for midsized convenience store retailers. Handy Mart will implement the Supply Chain Management, Financial Management, Learning Management, Time and Attendance and Scheduling solutions in all 43 locations.

The solution will help Handy Mart improve labor cost, inventory management and customer service, Milwaukee-based RedPrairie said.

The RedPrairie solution will provide Handy Mart with the necessary information [image-nocss] to identify trends, analyze customer buying behavior, optimize inventory levels and react quickly to changes at the sites. The implementation will enhance store operations by enabling store, field and corporate managers to manage by exception, the tech firm said. They will rely on BlueCube Enterprise alerts to notify them that operational challenges exist and need to be resolved. The scheduling solution will enable Handy Mart to efficiently schedule labor to improve service while reducing cost.

We were to the point that we needed a cost-effective way to improve the efficiency of our supply chain, said Judson Pope, E.J. Pope & Son president. RedPrairie's subscription model allows us to implement back office technology affordably by reducing our up front costs. We are certain that this effort will allow us to improve our customer service and result in increased profitability.

Kevin Saum, vice president and general manager of backoffice store solutions for RedPrairie, added, Integrating to Verifone's Sapphire allows us to take advantage of its true open system architecture and allows us access to richer data, enabling us to implement forecasted ordering, item level inventory control and full electronic replenishment at E.J. Pope & Son.

E.J. Pope & Son, Mount Olive, N.C., is a third-generation family-owned business offering Exxon, BP and proprietary gasoline brands. Handy Marts also offers foodservice at 14 locations including proprietary deli, Subway, Pizza Inn and White Swan Chicken & Barbeque programs.

RedPrairie is a consumer-driven optimization company. Built on an advanced Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) developed over the past 10 years, the firm's integrated suite of solutions offers on-demand capabilities to more than 25,000 sites worldwide. RedPrairie's E2e solutions synchronize people and products throughout the customer buying cycle. At the point of sale, this means consumers have access to desired products and that the store is staffed with the right people to help them make their purchases. In the production cycle, it means suppliers and manufacturers time and synchronize shipments and production based on demand signals from the retailer. And in the back room of the store, it means having the least amount of inventory, solving the last yard problem of the retail supply chain.
