ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- The Petroleum Convenience Alliance for Technology Standards (PCATS) said that Service Station Computer Systems Inc. (SSCS) has been certified as compliant with PCATS-NAXML POS Back Office Interface Standards Version 3.3. That means the XML file formats produced by SSCS software adhere to PCATS-approved NAXML standards.
SSCS software certification with PCATS means that SSCS creates files that a point-of-sale (POS) system adhering to PCATS-NAXML 3.3 specification may use. This includes, but is not limited to, the transfer of PLU and [image-nocss] barcoded item information, grade prices and department information.
To qualify for certification, the software was submitted to PCATS, tested, and found compliant for all core and non-core use cases. In addition, SSCS supports other PCATS-NAXML requirements for EB2B Retail schema, for converting invoice files and item files and the EB2B Motor Fuel schema for converting wholesale fuel rack prices.
This certification assures potential customers that SSCS embraces PCATS-NAXML standards, which significantly reduce the time retailers need to install new systems and have them interoperate with other certified systems, said John Hervey, PCATS executive director and CEO.
SSCS embraces timely adoption to PCATS standards because they allow our customers to use technology that adds speed, efficiency and profitability to their daily routines, said Al Stoeberl, SSCS vice president of sales and marketing. Open standards create integral process links between our users and those with whom they do daily business. They make life easier for everyone involved.
PCATS, Alexandria, Va., was founded in September 2003 to continue the development and maintenance for standards work initiated under the National Association of Convenience Stores' (NACS) Technology Standards project. With 160 retailer and supplier members, the group's membership represents more than 22,000 convenience stores.
Headquartered in Salinas, Calif., SSCS is a supplier of backoffice management and automation solutions to retailers and wholesalers in the convenience store, auto repair and fuel wholesaling industries. The company's flagship software program is the Computerized Daily Book (CDB).
