GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Gilbarco Veeder-Root's Passport Version 6 software now meets the Visa USA Payment Application Best Practices (PABP) under the Visa Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP).
The program helps retailers and financial institutions meet compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
The PABP listing means that Passport Version 6 minimizes the potential for security breaches and compromised card information when implemented in a PCI-compliant environment, the company said. The [image-nocss] best practices include principles that protect stored data, make passwords safer and eliminate full magnetic stripe or CVV2 data retention.
Passport Version 6 is a central part of the retailer's PCI-compliant system which protects consumer data, said Kirsten Paust, vice president of global retail systems for Gilbarco Veeder-Root. The PABP listing is an important designation to retailers and financial institutions that pursue responsible treatment of credit card information.
