Gilbarco, PCS Partner on Debit Solution

Will help retailers on Concord Buypass Network

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Gilbarco Veeder-Root and Petroleum Card Services (PCS) have agreed to work together to help petroleum retailers on the Concord Buypass Network meet new security and encryption requirements for debit card processing.

PCS will include Gilbarco's G-SITE point-of-sale systems as part of its solution to meet the network's requirement to use Derived Unique Key Per Transaction (DUKPT) encryption on debit transactions.

Many petroleum retailers operate the Wayne Plus 3 or other POS systems that will not be upgraded [image-nocss] by their manufacturers to support DUKPT encryption, which is now required by many networks like Concord Buypass, said Jim McCormick, vice president of strategic sales for Gardnerville, Nevada-based PCS. Gilbarco's G-SITE is a great value for retailers who need to retain debit capability in the short term and also want a path to an even more sophisticated system in the future.

PCS is offering a timely and comprehensive end-to-end solution for retailers who want to continue to offer their customers the convenience of debit and stay on their chosen network, said Kirsten Paust, manager of POS marketing at Gilbarco Veeder-Root, Greensboro, N.C. We are pleased to support their solution with our products, distribution channel and service network.

The solution offered by PCS includes the POS (with flexibility to buy or lease), network services and high-speed connectivity.

PCS brings payment solutions to merchants within the independent petroleum market. It specializes in pay-at-the-pump credit card processing for independent gas stations and convenience stores nationwide.

Gilbarco Veeder-Root and Gasboy are major suppliers of integrated fuel control, site management, and support services for petroleum marketers and commercial fueling enterprises worldwide.
