Gilbarco Veeder-Root Partners With Ingenico

Also offers new leak detection system; forges supermarket E85 deal

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Fuel dispensing equipment provider Gilbarco Veeder-Root Inc. and Ingenico, a provider of secure payment and transaction solutions, have entered into a strategic global partnership to deliver secure and reliable end-to-end payment solutions for petroleum retailers worldwide.

The companies will jointly develop and deliver comprehensive integrated indoor and outdoor payment technologies that automate petroleum retail sites, with the highest standards for security, ease of use and convenience.

Their developments [image-nocss] will lead to a single global development platform and solution to address the requirements of multiple markets, countries and standards and will include EMV/Chip and PIN solutions.

"Ingenico's technology and expertise will allow Gilbarco Veeder-Root to deliver seamless payment solutions that extend the general retail environment to the convenience store and the forecourt. As we globalize our indoor and outdoor payment platforms, our customers will benefit through the integration of key Ingenico technologies with products like our EMV-approved Outdoor Payment Terminal," said Kirsten Paust, global vice president for retail solutions for Gilbarco Veeder-Root.

Malcolm Bushell, Ingenico's executive vice president global sales and services, added, Gilbarco's expertise in outdoor payment and petroleum retail automation make them an outstanding partner to leverage Ingenico'sexpertise and technology in retail payment systems. Our common customers will benefit from application portability from our advanced UNICAPT 32 platform.

Neuilly-Sur-Seine, France-based Ingenico has U.S. headquarters in Atlanta.

Also, Gilbarco Veeder-Root said it will be showing its newly available Guardian Leak Prevention System at the NACS Show in Las Vegas this week. The company said it offers the highest level of groundwater protection available, and which it said is the only actively monitored tank-to-dispenser fuel containment system on the market.

The new solution provides Class 1 leak detection and containment in a complete system. Guardian offers a simplified system designed to detect and contain leaks before they enter the environment.

The Guardian Leak Prevention System creates new secondary containment spaces around vulnerable leak points. By providing continuous vacuum monitoring capability from the tank interface to the dispenser, the system monitors the STP, product piping and the new shear valve for any seepage.

Because this new system is designed to detect leaks before they enter the environment, the benefits to our customers include lower risk of contamination, as well as increased safety, reduced costs and increased uptime, said Richard Browne, vice president of marketing for service station equipment at Gilbarco Veeder-Root.

Meanwhile, San Antonio-based supermarket retailer H.E. Butt Grocery Co. (H-E-B) has selected Gilbarco Veeder-Root Inc.'s Encore-S as the dispenser line for its five new E85 fueling locations and all future E85 sites along the Interstate 35 corridor in Texas.

Choosing Gilbarco Veeder-Root's dispensers allowed H-E-B to integrate its E85 systems with standard fueling dispensers. H-E-B said it became the first retailer in Texas to offer E85, an environmentally friendly alternative fuel, in Central and South Texas.

Through the addition of E85, we are excited to offer an alternative to foreign oil, particularly an alternative that is less expensive and cleaner-burning than traditional gasoline, said George Presses, H-E-B's director of petroleum. By using the Encore-S dispensers, we can provide this fuel to our customers on a dispenser with a large branding area that makes it very easy to highlight the E85 offering.

While E85 is gaining increased national acceptance, Gilbarco Veeder-Root has been supplying alternative fuel dispensers for 15 years, in partnership with Clean Fuels USA. Gilbarco Veeder-Root said it will offer a wide range of flexible-fuel dispensers for E85, biodiesel, liquid propane gas (LPG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) from their facility in North Carolina.

Gilbarco Veeder-Root designed the Encore-S with advanced features that exceed draft specifications for alternative fuels, including special material for fuel meters, internal piping and compression fittings. Also, the control valves are built with ethanol-compatible seals to ensure reliable operation over time. The Encore-S can pump up to five fuel grades, allowing retailers to offer E85, biodiesel and three standard grades of gasoline from one fueling position.
