BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Holiday Stationstores has chosen the Category One (C1) reverse auction platform to support Holiday's cost reduction efforts. The announcement comes on the heels of a pilot period, during which Holiday sourced items ranging from foodservice ingredients and packaging to store supplies.
C1 is a Los Angeles-based provider of reverse auction and eRFX services and technology. It supports and prepares vendors to bid competitively. Holiday took advantage of C1's supplier database, reverse auction website and category sourcing strategies [image-nocss] to achieve double-digit savings on most items, the company said.
Category One knows the key suppliers, the current market conditions and how to best describe what we buy. The result was far more competition than we have witnessed in the past, and significant savings to the bottom line, said Martha Glende, merchandising director for Holiday Stationstores.
Holiday Stationstores delivers a great experience to the convenience store customer. It is critical that their suppliers deliver high-quality goods and services to protect that image. We are very excited to have helped Holiday identify competitive suppliers with great products, said Mark Shanley, vice president with C1.
Based in Bloomington, Minn., Holiday Stationstores has more than 420 corporate and franchise locations in 12 states throughout the upper tier of the United States, including Alaska.
C1 was formed in 2003 by supply chain and technology executives to focus on delivering e-sourcing expertise to several verticals, including grocery, convenience, logistics and food. Its technology is provided on a SaaS (Software as a Service) basis, on either a full or self-service basis.
