Honey Farms Selects UTC RETAIL as POS Hardware Provider

Helps retailer to harvest improved system performance

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Honey Farms Inc. has selected the 3100 Series Workstation from UTC RETAIL--a leading provider of retail management solutions, including software, hardware and professional services--as its new POS hardware solution.

"For the past six years, Honey Farms has been using Palm POS software from The Pinnacle Corp., one of our valued partners," said Victoria Rose, vice president of sales and marketing for Rochester, N.Y.-based UTC RETAIL. "As Honey Farms has upgraded Palm over the years, the minimum hardware and security requirements started to exceed their existing POS hardware's capabilities. Honey Farms put us through our paces by conducting a full cost and design analysis of several POS hardware platforms, and then picking just two hardware vendors to test in a live-store environment for 30 days."

UTC RETAIL's 3100 Series all-in-one touch-screen integrated workstation solution provides efficient performance, superior reliability and exceptional value. Based on open architecture and embedded components, the 3100 Series protects a retailer's system investment ensuring a long productive life in the most demanding environments. The compact footprint fits space-conscious deployments, including the specialty retail, convenience stores and school foodservice markets.

"We looked at several hardware platforms before deciding on the 3100," said Ed Freels, director of information systems for Honey Farms. "Our No. 1 criteria was performance. We tested the gear in three of our stores that were having significant service and support issues with our existing POS hardware. We were very pleased with the results of the 3100. Also, we spoke with dozens of other retailers to get their feedback on the platforms we were considering. Absolutely no one that had deployed UTC had any regrets."
