Hot Spots Deploy Precidia Technology

Jordan Oil connects payment to IP network

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- R.L. Jordan Oil Co.'s Hot Spots convenience stores have deployed Precidia Technologies Inc.'s POSLynx220 product.

The POSLynx220 payment router, which features two dial and two serial ports, has helped Jordan Oil connect existing payment terminals, check readers and ATMs to an IP network. Features of this solution include faster transactions, simplified remote management of store equipment, and enhanced security, the designer and manufacturer of Internet Protocol (IP) access devices said.

Using existing equipment, [image-nocss] Jordan Oil gains all the benefits of a more-expensive new IP-based system. Among these benefits are transaction speed and manageability. Jordan Oil IT Specialist Rollin Tillie said, The faster the line moves, the more people you can serve. Our transactions have been reduced from more than 15 seconds to under five. With stores serving an average of 1,500 customers a day, this results in a significant time savings at the checkout.

He added that the Jordan Oil has also gained management tools with NetVu: active management and alerts, remote configuration and security.

Precidia president Deepak Wanner said, There is the cost savings of eliminating dedicated dial lines, as well as the foregone cost of upgrading to new equipment. The POSLynx220 also addresses a growing concern amongst merchants: security and PCI compliance management. He added that Precidia's approach to security features SSL encryption, firewalling, and password management.

Jordan Oil is a family-owned and operated business headquartered in Spartanburg, S.C. It owns and operates 56 Hot Spots gasoline and convenience food stores and 11 fast-food locations throughout South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia.

Ottawa, Ontario-based Precidia's product line of wired and wireless access devices and NetVu network configuration management seamlessly migrates standalone equipment onto more sophisticated IP networks.
