Impulse Interface Drives Suggestive Selling

New Pinnacle interface works with Palm POS

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Pinnacle Corp. introduced a new POS interface to Gilbarco’s Impulse, powered by Odysii, providing suggestive selling opportunities for Pinnacle’s Palm POS.

The new feature is based on real-time transaction data sent by Palm POS to the Odysii host while the cashier rings items to the consumer’s ticket. Based on specific items added to the ticket, the system then sends targeted promotional messaging to the customer suggesting additional items on a graphic-rich customer facing display. And it can reinforce the sales opportunity with messages on a separate cashier-facing display.

“Impulse is a great fit for the c-store market,” said Denise Lewis, POS and payments product manager at Pinnacle. “Our c-store customers are very interested in using suggestive selling in order to increase store sales, and Impulse provides a great system for doing that. The system uses the transaction data from our Palm POS to generate relevant promotional messages to the consumer on the fly during the transaction and deliver the messages on a visible touchscreen at the check-out counter.”

“We are very pleased to have the interface to Pinnacle’s Palm,” said Elad Halperin, vice president of Global Marketing for Odysii. “Impulse is designed to help retailers maximize each and every customer interaction. Our mission is to help retailers increase same-store sales while delivering an engaging customer experience. We are excited to be able to offer Impulse to the large customer base using Palm.”
