Kum & Go, Tap & Go

Retailer offering MasterCard PayPass option

WEST DES MOINES, Ill. -- Kum & Go LC will now accept MasterCard PayPass, a contactless payment option, across its entire fleet of more than 450 store locations.

In addition to traditional magnetic-stripe payment cards, Kum & Go will accept MasterCard PayPass at its checkout counters.

Kum & Go customers can quickly pay for their purchases by tapping their PayPass-enabled MasterCard card or device on a PayPass reader. No longer do they need to find cash or hand their card to a cashier to make basic purchases. MasterCard [image-nocss] PayPass also eliminates the need for customers to sign receipts for purchases under $25, further speeding up the transaction.

"Focused on consumer expediency and satisfaction, convenience store retailers like Kum & Go provide an ideal setting for MasterCard PayPass since the technology is designed to provide greater speed and convenience at the point of sale," said T.J. Sharkey, senior vice president of U.S. merchant sales for Purchase, N.Y.-based MasterCard Worldwide.

MasterCard PayPass is currently accepted within several retail sectors, such as quick-serve restaurants, sports stadiums and arenas, movie theaters, supermarkets, vending machines and taxisareas where speed and convenience are critical factors.

MasterCard PayPass is ideal for traditional cash-heavy environments where speed is essential, the company said, and has helped bring contactless technology to consumer categories such as quick-serve restaurants, drug stores, gas stations, vending machines, convenience stores, sports arenas, movie theaters, transit systems and parking garages. As of 3Q 2007, there are more than 19 million PayPass cards and devices issued globally, and PayPass is currently accepted globally at more than 73,000 merchant locations, including participating CVS, McDonald's, Regal Entertainment Group theaters and many others. PayPass is also accepted at numerous professional football and baseball stadiums.

West Des Moines, Iowa-based Kum & Go has more than 450 stores in 13 states throughout the Midwest.
