Free WiFi, blogs latest "whistles" on retailer's recently revamped website
YORK, Pa. -- Rutter's Farms Stores is now offering free WiFi service at select locations, the company said in a blog post on its website, www.rutters.com.
The retailer recently overhauled its online offering. On its new site, relaunched in late September, customers can join the new Rutter's Rewards program, download a free Rutter's iPhone application or Rutter's ringtone, connect to the chain's presences on Facebook and Twitter, sign up to receive the latest specials and promotions via text message and view Rutter's fuel pricing [image-nocss] provided by GasBuddy.com.

The WiFi at Rutter's can instantly be read once the customer is within a certain distance from the location. The digital device, whether it is a phone or laptop, will pick up the signals and connect automatically.

"A gentleman commented that he went to a chain store and didn't receive WiFi, so he continued to Rutter's and was please to have been able to receive WiFi," Rutter's blogger Jenna Blain said.

"WiFi is ideal for anyone on-the-go and not many convenience stores have it," she added. "It's a great thing to take advantage of especially when it's free! No one can beat a bargain like that. So next time you're at Rutter's don't hesitate to bring your laptop while you sit down and enjoy a coffee."

Rutter's encourages customers to sign up to receive text messages via any combination of email, SMS (mobile), iPhone, Twitter and Facebook.Click here for more details.

The site also links to mini websites personalized for each Rutter's store. Each of the store sites lists GasBuddy-observed gasoline prices, store hours and amenities, promotions and job openings. Customers can provide feedback and review any store based on six criteria.

In late December, Blaina recent graduate in communicationssigned on as "the new face of Rutter's Blog."

"This blog will be a great opportunity for our company to learn about you, to know what you like, dislike or would like to see at Rutter's," she said. "The blog is also a great place to present new and upcoming events that the public should know about or that we should know about."

Blain is assisted by Jesse Butz, a recent graduate in media arts and animation. "Together, we're building an online presence, as well as creating content for a new secret project," he said.
