SAN ANTONIO -- In the 2014 PDI Users Conference & Training Seminar's first live audience vote, Mid-Atlantic Convenience Stores (MACS) took the top prize, the annual Doing Business Electronically Awards, for its wide-ranging use of PDI/Enterprise to automate manual processes and produce time-saving results.
The list of nominees also included convenience store chains Jacksons Food Stores, Meridian, Idaho; Graham C-Stores, Grayslake, Ill.; CST Brands, San Antonio; and Vintners Distributors, Fremont, Calif.
MACS was able to acquire 40 new stores while keeping the same number of employees at the home office.
"It was such an honor to be chosen for this award by our industry colleagues," said Scot Tomlinson, enterprise systems manager at MACS. "I can't wait to see the things our company will be able to accomplish in another year."
Richmond, Va.-based MACS operates approximately 300 convenience stores, primarily in Virginia. It is now part of Sunoco (formerly Susser Petroleum) after a dropdown deal from Energy Transfer Partners (ETP).
More than 550 convenience store retailers and petroleum marketers gathered in late September for the event. The record-breaking number of attendees represented nearly 140 companies operating more than 20,500 retail sites, PDI said.
PDI, Temple, Texas, provides software, hardware and professional services to convenience store retailers and wholesale petroleum marketers. Worldwide, approximately 330 companies and more than 28,000 retail locations rely on PDI’s systems for retail automation, fuel and warehouse management, business intelligence and financial management.
