Managed Data Firm Adds Wi-Fi Solution

MegaPath offering new wireless option with focus on security

PLEASANTON, Calif. -- MegaPath Corp., a managed data, voice, security and cloud-services firm, has added a managed-Wi-Fi offer to its line of services.

MegaPath Manager WiFi

MegaPath, Pleasanton, Calif., announced the availability of its new Wi-Fi service that will offer businesses a secure wireless local area network (LAN). The service allows businesses to offer Wi-Fi access without the burden of having to manage the wireless network, the company said.

Officials say its MegaPath Managed WiFi provides companies with a solution that includes the design, configuration, installation and implementation of their wireless network. MegaPath also provides monitoring and management of the network and help-desk support.

The Wi-Fi service includes built-in security that protects the wireless network from attacks and automatically enforces the right access policies by type or device, the company said. With the service, customers can also obtain business intelligence on their wireless network usage, including store traffic and loyalty data.

“According to Cisco’s Visual Networking Index, more than half of all monthly traffic from mobile-connected devices will be offloaded to the fixed network by means of Wi-Fi and other solutions by 2018,” said David Williams, president of managed services, MegaPath. “Companies need to be prepared to provide secure Internet connectivity and LAN capabilities to their branch locations, and MegaPath’s Managed WiFi solution is a natural extension of our managed services and networking portfolio that enables our customers to do that without increasing the management burden on their IT teams.”

MegaPath’s Managed WiFi solution is cloud-managed for quick deployment, scalability and network monitoring and management. According to the company, the solution does not require any additional training or dedicated IT staff, making it more accessible for small-to-medium-sized businesses and large businesses with distributed sites or constrained IT resources. Additionally, MegaPath’s network-operations center monitors, configures and troubleshoots customers’ wireless networks.

MegaPath operates an end-to-end communications network, providing both commercial and wholesale services. The company also provides a range of data, voice, security and hosted IT services for small, medium and enterprise businesses nationwide, as well as wholesale solutions to the carrier and service-provider markets.
