MAPCO Express to Implement FuelQuest's FMS

Chain chooses technology to enhance inventory management, fuel purchasing

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. -- MAPCO Express will deploy FuelQuest Inc.'s Fuel Management System (FMS) to enhance the reconcilement of its fuel management processes. MAPCO Express is a subsidiary of Delek U.S. Holdings Inc., operating nearly 500 retail fuel and convenience stores across the southeastern United States.

"Operating retail sites in eight states, it is essential for us to be as efficient as possible across the multiple processes we use today," said Ed Morgan, CFO at MAPCO Express. "FuelQuest's FMS provides a unified platform to enhance reconciliation processes in our fuel inventory management [image-nocss] practices while enabling us to continue our acquisitive growth in the southeastern market."

In addition to eliminating some labor-intensive processes, MAPCO Express is designed to simplify its secondary supply chain replenishment processes. At the same time, Delek US has a need to centralize dispatch activities among its fleet and common carrier network across all three of its operating segments using a common operations platform.

In FMS, MAPCO Express found a solution to diminish its reliance on these manual processes and increase the productivity of its internal staff, the company said. The initial phase of the engagement will focus on automating and enhancing current workflows spanning forecasting and sourcing. FMS will automate dispatch activities to free up staff so they can manage more sites and reduce the time spent processing dispatch orders.

FuelQuest said it expects that MAPCO Express can achieve fuel cost savings through the deployment of the following FMS capabilities: Inventory management, strategic sourcing, price management and invoice reconciliation.

"FMS will enable MAPCO Express to quickly capitalize on market dynamics and price volatility," said Rich Cilento, president and CEO of Houston-based FuelQuest. "The on-demand capabilities within the FuelQuest FMS solution will streamline MAPCO Express' secondary distribution supply chain by providing easy-to-use tools to manage their inventory replenishment process and optimize fleet utilization."

FuelQuest provides on-demand, web-based supply chain management and tax automation technologies for suppliers, distributors, buyers and traders of petroleum products and other energy commodities.

MAPCO Express, Brentwood, Tenn., operates nearly 500 retail fuel and c-stores under the MAPCO Mart, MAPCO Express, Discount Food Mart, FAST Food and Fuel, Favorite Markets and East Coast brands, located primarily in and around Memphis, Chattanooga and Nashville, Tenn., northern Georgia, northern Alabama and Richmond, Va.
