Wrigley revamping Candystand.com; Hershey's wrapped up with eBay

OAK BROOK, Ill. -- Two candy giants are sweetening their online activities with website enhancements or promotions.

The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. has relaunched www.candystand.com, its free entertainment website. Candystand.com has been overhauled to add brands such as Big Red, Juicy Fruit, Winterfresh, Doublemint, Orbit and Eclipse to the site's existing stable of Life Savers and Creme Savers products, marking the first time that all of Wrigley's U.S. brands will be housed in one website.

The [image-nocss] redesign also improves Candystand.com's offerings by delivering a streamlined user experience new content.

Candystand.com, which was acquired by the Chicago-based Wrigley in June 2005, is visited by more than four million unique consumers each month, the company said. It has featured many free online sports, arcade, card, puzzle and multiplayer games since its launch in 1997. It will also introduce new games in coming weeks.

Scott Tannen, leader of Wrigley's Digital Marketing group, said, From a strategic standpoint, uniting Wrigley's beloved brands with this powerful and popular entertainment venue provides our company with a unique and exciting marketing tool.

Candystand.com also offers consumers a place to purchase Wrigley confections, many of which are hard-to-find flavors and varieties. The sweepstakes center features a variety of contests with rewards ranging from spa getaways to cash prizes.

Separately, The Hershey Co., Hershey, Pa., is turning wrappers into cash as part of an interactive auctionGet it With WrapperCash, powered by eBay.

Hershey's is hosting daily auctions where wrappers from specially marked Hershey's candy bars, snack bars and cookies can be used to bid on prizes. Up for auction are 12 Chrysler Crossfire cars, once-in-a-lifetime experiences and more.

To participate in Hershey's Get it with WrapperCash promotion, consumers set up a WrapperCash eBay account at Hersheys.com, and deposit codes found on wrappers into their account, which become points good for use in the daily WrapperCash auctions or at the Redeem Now store (codes can be deposited online or via text message from a cell phone). The consumer that bids the highest number of WrapperCash points on a particular tem will be the winner.

The bidding began May 15 with daily auctions held through Oct. 31, 2006. During the first week, Hershey's will auction off a Chrysler Crossfire Roadster and an experience to go behind the scenes at Hershey's to become a Master Chocolatier.
