Pinnacle, Ingenico Join Forces

Will offer additional financial functionality for future POS requirements

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Pinnacle Corp. said that it has partnered with Ingenico, a financial transactions systems and equipment provider. Pinnacle's Palm POS interfaces to several of Ingenico's products, specifically the i3010 PIN pad and the en-Touch 1000 and i6000 series signature capture payment terminals. These terminals offer several significant advantages for retailers facing the challenges related to the advent of security standards and RF-enabled contactless card transactions.

At some point, the companies said, retailers will have to install [image-nocss] PIN pads that comply with the new Payment Card Industry (PCI) security standards that protect customers using credit or debit cards and other PIN-based forms of payment at the point of sale (POS). Retailers will also have to upgrade to contactless payment PIN pads as this technology is becoming more and more popular because of its increased speed in transaction times. Both of these challenges are addressed by Ingenico's products.

"Ingenico's focus in the United States has traditionally been in the grocery, specialty retail, general retail and banking market segments. Our partnership with Pinnacle will bring more payment terminal choices to the c-store and petroleum operator, said Frank Pepe, director of sales for indirect channels for Ingenico's retail solutions.

"We are pleased to announce our partnership with Ingenico that will enhance Pinnacle's line of payment solution terminal options for Palm POS," said Drew Mize, Pinnacle's vice president of retail solutions. "The integration of Ingenico's payment solution PIN pads with our Palm POS not only provides our clients with a wider variety of robust and industry compliant terminals to choose from, but also paves the way for new Palm POS features such as contactless payment, electronic signature capture and customizable displays to vastly enhance the end-user experience."

Palm POS runs under the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems. It has more interfaces than any other open-architecture POS in the industry, the company said. From training to PLU input to scanning, an intuitive touchscreen makes every task fast and easy. Palm POS interfaces to a variety of devices including pole displays, security cameras, lottery and voice confirmation. Nationwide, it is used to process upwards of $9 billion in total convenience store sales and is certified on seven different credit payment networks.
