Pump Start Me Up

New AutoGas technology designed to reduce driveoffs, other costs

ABILENE, Texas -- Newly developed technology by AutoGas Systems Inc. said it aims to bring convenience back to cash customers as stores move to prepay only. Due to rising gasoline prices and the increased number of driveoffs, cash customers have been inconvenienced by having to prepay for their fuel purchases. Using the AutoGas REGAL System with any loyalty/member card, retailers can revive the convenience for their postpay customers by creating a pump start authorization.

Currently, the AutoGas REGAL System is the only commercially available solution [image-nocss] using traditional magstripe activation to offer cash customers this convenience in a prepay-only environment, the company said.

It recently formed an alliance with Digi International to allow AutoGas to expand its technology offering. The alliance will provide customers a variety of retail connectivity solutions including the company's new ConnectPort Display, which the company said is the industry's first remote networking solution to use Display over IP technology. The ConnectPort Display is a customizable, network-enabled video display hub that allows standard video displays and POS peripherals to be located anywhere on a Local Area Network (LAN) without a locally-attached host PC or thin client.

AutoGas, Abilene, Texas, is a major player in retail fuel automation, including point-of-sale (POS) solutions and dispenser control systems.

Digi International, Minneapolis, develops device networking products and technologies. It markets its products through a global network of distributors and resellers, systems integrators and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
