PHOENIX -- PumpTop TV is now live at the first of at least 60 gas stations in the greater Phoenix area, according to AdtekMedia Inc., owner/operator of the gasoline-pump TV network. The first PumpTop TV installation was completed this week and is now up and running at a Shell station in Mesa.
PumpTop TV is a network of LCD screens mounted at eye level on gasoline pumps at various gas station brands. News video from ABC, real-time traffic maps, along with weather, sports, business, health and entertainment news are delivered to consumers as they fuel their vehicles at the pump.
"Who [image-nocss] wants to watch the gas pump meter tick away, especially with today's prices?" asked Roy Reeves, PumpTop TV's vice president of sales and marketing. "We provide an engaging, entertaining way to spend those five to six minutes of our lives."
A limited number of advertisements from national, regional and local companies are interspersed within PumpTop TV's programming.
"People today are tremendously busy and spend more time out of the home than ever before," said Paul Schmidt, PumpTop TV's national sales manager. "We present a…frequent opportunity to reach and engage these 'on-the-go' consumers at the gas pump."
PumpTop TV's network consists of more than 4,500 screens found at most major gas station brands in the Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, San Diego and now Phoenix markets. The Dallas, Houston, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and Boston markets are slated to go live later this year.
