QuikTrip Implements Systemates' Construction Management Software

Projectmates will help retailer with renovation, new-store construction
TULSA, Okla. -- QuikTrip Corp. is the newest client of Systemates Inc.'s construction management software, Projectmates. The retailer will use Projectmates to manage its new-store construction and renovation program, the technology provider said.

QuikTrip operates more than 550 convenience stores located in nine states, all offering gasoline and truck fleet diesel fueling programs. Like other growing retail companies challenged to build more stores with fewer resources, one of QuikTrip's primary concerns was choosing construction management software that new store teams [image-nocss] could easily learn and use.

"QuikTrip did an extensive review of the project management systems, demoing six to eight different software packages. The two things that caught our attention with Projectmates were the ease of use and feel of the dashboard," said Pete Conlin, QuikTrip's construction manager leading the implementation effort.

QuikTrip will benefit from the nearly 200 out-of-the-box, enterprise-level reports in Projectmates, including many cost tracking and scheduling reports that can be set up for automatic delivery. "Executives and supervisors will be able to view the status of any aspect of any project in a moment's notice. They will be able to see a project's total cost at any given time," said Conlin.

"Our construction managers will be able to manage more projects with less time utilizing the online bidding system, contract administration, RFIs and change order modules," said Conlin.

Projectmates provides two-way bidding, which is an example of its efficiencies Systemates said. QuikTrip can post bids and supporting documents like drawings and specifications for bidders to download, saving considerable money in printing costs alone. In addition to managing Q&A and addenda, QuikTrip will also be able to receive and compare bid submissions within Projectmates.

Since QuikTrip signed with Systemates, training and implementation of Projectmates is well underway, the company said.

Dallas-based Systemates developed Projectmates to equip owners and owner's representatives with a secure, web-based construction management software solution. Projectmates' collaborative platform is designed to improve project execution and cut costs and delays, increase accountability and reduce risks. It creates one seamless platform for managing the complete lifecycle of a building, from planning, bidding and construction to maintaining the facilities.

Tulsa, Okla.-based QuikTrip's major markets are Atlanta; Dallas-Fort Worth; Kansas City; St. Louis; Tulsa; Des Moines, Iowa; Omaha, Neb.; and Phoenix. It also recently entered the Tucson, Ariz., market.
