Road Ranger Partners With UTC Retail, Pinnacle

Chain installs workstations, software in 100% of its stores
ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Road Ranger LLC has rolled out UTC Retail's 1870 POS Touch Workstations in 72 convenience store locations. The solution installed in the successful Road Ranger stores combines UTC Retail's 1870 running The Pinnacle Corp.'s Palm POS c-store software. Pinnacle is a strategic partner and reseller of UTC Retail's products.

"We're pleased to report we have installed the final store in our Palm/ UTC Retail rollout, said Jeremie Myhren, senior director of IT for Road Ranger, Rockford, Ill. "Our unbranded chain is now a 100% Pinnacle Palm/UTC Retail shop."

UTC [image-nocss] Retail's 1870 was recently enhanced with an Intel Celeron M 1.5GHz and Pentium M 1.8GHz processor option, increased Front Side Bus speed (400 MHz), standard system memory of 512 MB RAM (upgradeable to 2GB) and standard 80GB hard disk drive (160GB or dual hard disk drive optional). The energy-efficient mobile architecture also enabled a redesigned cooling system resulting in improved reliability and reduced fan noise. An integrated Intel GML Express chipset produces crisper display graphics and improved audio output from the optional speakers.
