Warehouse management system streamlines retail store replenishment
ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sheetz Inc. has selected the HighJump Software warehouse management system (WMS) to streamline its supply chain operations that replenishment to retail locations. Sheetz began the search for a new warehouse management system as part of an initiative to lower IT costs and reduce business risk associated with their previous warehouse management system, it said.

"Our previous system was expensive to maintain and performing system upgrades was cost-prohibitive," said Eric Foose, software services manager from Sheetz. "By not staying current on the most recent [image-nocss] version, we introduced unnecessary risk to business operations."

With the HighJump warehouse management system, Sheetz is able to replicate many of their current best-practice business processes and have a simplified upgrade process that reduces their total cost of ownership. The system will manage replenishment to all retail locations from Sheetz's distribution center which includes product storage at frozen, refrigerated and ambient temperatures.

Additionally, the warehouse management system will manage Sheetz's food production facility which creates ready-to-eat food products including sandwiches, wraps, subrolls, burger buns, donuts and baked sweet goods.

In a single warehouse management system, HighJump is able to provide functionality for Sheetz's retail distribution and food and beverage production.

"We had a complex set of requirements to support our operation, which includes retail replenishment and food production," said Darrin Pohar, director of operations from Sheetz. "Through a detailed proof-of-concept, HighJump was able to show us exactly how they would support our operations. This attention to detail proved to us that HighJump really understood our objectives. I was surprised by how easy it was to configure their system to our needs, without having to make rigid customized coding changes."
