Sheetz Names New IT VP

Wenner promoted to newly created position

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sheetz Inc. has announced the promotion of 12-year employee Jim Wenner as the convenience chain's new vice president of information technology (IT). In this newly created role, Wenner will be responsible for providing strategic direction for the two primary functions of technology at Sheetz. He will also provide support/maintenance of existing systems, develop new systems and ensure that IT resources meet the needs of the business.

"Jim brings a great deal of knowledge and ability to this new position," said Joe Sheetz, executive vice president of finance [image-nocss] for the Altoona, Pa.-based company. "Over the years he has been involved in the successful execution of many company-wide systems, including the start up of our distribution center."

Wenner began his career at Sheetz in 1996 as the manager of programming services. In 1999, he was promoted to director of programming services where he has been responsible for systems and application development. Since 2006, Jim has played an important role as a member of the Sheetz Strategic Planning Team, responsible for the long-term strategic planning for the company.

Sheetz is a family-owned and operated convenience store chain with more than $4.9 billion in revenue for 2008 and more than 12,000 employees. The company operates more than 350 locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina. Sheetz provides an award-winning menu of Made-To-Order (MTO) subs, sandwiches and salads, which are ordered through touchscreen order point terminals.
