Stewart's Shops Integrating Pinnacle, PaySpot

Tech providers roll out integrated POS/prepaid solution

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Stewart's Shops is now in the process of integrating The Pinnacle Corp.'s Palm POS system at its 326 locations. And Pinnacle has announced that interface and certification efforts have been completed between Pinnacle Palm POS and the suite of prepaid solutions offered by U.S. prepaid electronic payment processor PaySpot Inc.

Palm POS now provides direct interface functionality to PaySpot's suite of prepaid products, enabling a clerk's ability to issue, charge, recharge and disable prepaid products directly from the POS. This [image-nocss] integration provides improved speed of service for the consumer, lower risk of shrink through efficient transaction handling and reduced clerk training efforts by consolidating multiple transaction steps, said the Arlington, Texas-based automation technology firm focusing on the convenience store and petroleum industries.

Integration also eliminates the need of a prepaid terminal, which opens valuable counter space in the retail location.

"We are excited to offer Pinnacle Palm retail clients this new integration option with PaySpot," said Drew Mize, Pinnacle's vice president of retail solutions."By continually adding new services and integration options directly from the POS, retailers gain efficiencies which ultimately allow them to provide improved customer service, improved loss prevention capability and better focus on the business."

Jamison Jaworski, vice president of sales for PaySpot, said, PaySpot is in step with our retailers' needs of capturing more counter space, decreasing hardware expense, utilizing a single reconciliation point and finding an easier training process for the clerk.

An in-store point-of-sale system running under the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems, Palm POS interfaces to a variety of devices including security cameras, DVR, lottery, money order, loyalty solutions, payment networks and prepaid solutions. Nationwide, it is used to process upwards of $9 billion in total c-store sales and is certified on 15 payment networks, the company said.

Arlington, Texas-based Pinnacle serves the automation technology industry, focusing on the c-store and petroleum industries. It delivers products that automate the spectrum of c-store operations and supply chain management of fuel operations and delivery.

PaySpot, a subsidiary of Leawood, Kansas-based Euronet Worldwide, is offers a variety of prepaid products including prepaid wireless, prepaid long distance, prepaid gift cards, prepaid debit cards, bill payment, money transfer, check guarantee, merchant processing, age verification and prepaid handsets. The PaySpot system supports online electronic top-up at retail locations via a range of POS terminals or through integrated electronic cash registers for retailers with multiple locations and multiple checkout points.
