Sunoco, Gas Station TV Launch In-Store Digital Media Experience

Pilot program provides news, entertainment mix

PHILADELPHIA -- Sunoco has teamed up with Gas Station TV, a provider of digital out-of-home media, to launch an in-store pilot providing an integrated consumer media experience at selected Sunoco gas stations.

GSTV has enhanced our business in the forecourt, and we're excited to be the first retailer to launch this in-store program with them in an effort to continue driving sales and building customer loyalty, said Chris Buitron, brand manager of Sunoco. Our focus is on creating a balanced, engaging experience for customers both inside and outside our [image-nocss] stores.

GSTV's large-format LCD panels are positioned in high-traffic areas inside the convenience store and feature GSTV's mix of news and entertainment from ABC TV, sports highlights from ESPN, AccuWeather forecasts, brand advertising and c-store product promotions.

From the forecourt to the c-store, GSTV provides a complete, dynamic media solution for engaging mobile consumers and driving c-store revenue, said David Leider, Gas Station TV CEO. We are transforming the gas station environment by making it a true destination for consumers who look to alternative media sources for their news and information, as well as marketers who aim to connect with this important audience.

Detroit-based Gas Station TV is an IP-based digital TV network at the pump. "Captive" consumers are engaged for 4.5 minutes during their pump transactions with nothing to do. There is only one channel, no remote controls, DVRs or PC multitasking. GSTV provides a programming experience with select news and entertainment content, which can be tailored to geography and time of day.

GSTV currently reaches more than 40 million viewers a month across 300 cities with major retail partners. GSTV is currently on more than 5,000 screens in 300 cities including top media markets such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Detroit and Tampa at select Chevron, ConocoPhilips, CITGO, ExxonMobil, Murphy USA, Shell, Speedway, Valero and Sunoco stations.

Philadelphia-based Sunoco is one of the largest independent refiner-marketers in the United States.
