Tedeschi, Delta Sonic Rolling Out New POS Hardware

Pinnacle partner UTC solution to be installed at more than 200 locations
ROCKLAND, Mass. Key clients Tedeschi Food Shops of Rockland, Mass., and Delta Sonic Car Wash Systems Inc., Buffalo, N.Y., are in the process of rolling out new POS Hardware from UTC RETAIL to their more than 200 collective retail locations, according to The Pinnacle Corp.

Since 1988, UTC RETAILa Pinnacle partnerhas deployed and serviced more than 335,000 store-level point-of-sale (POS) installations for leading retailers in North America. UTC RETAIL has a portfolio of POS hardware solutions based on industry standards and open architecture ensuring compatibility with other [image-nocss] store devices.

Tedeschi opted to switch from its current hardware platform to UTC RETAIL, choosing UTC's 1870 Series POS Hardware platform. "We at Tedeschi wanted to move forward with a state of the art piece of POS hardware that was designed to withstand the day-to-day usage common in the convenience store environment," said Jack McLaughlin, director of information services at Tedeschi.

After careful review of various options, Tedeschi concluded that switching from a "POS in the box" option made sense. The retailer saw great value in the numerous benefits and cost savings associated with an integrated, built-to-suit- system, a system that could grow with their business, matching their current long-term expansion plans.

"We needed a stable, reliable, and robust platform to run our point-of-sale system. We like the fact that the UTC RETAIL repair facility is right around the corner from our offices, and we appreciate UTC's flexibility in helping us get a system deployed that meets our needs," said Chris Boebel, IT manager for Delta Sonic.

The new 1870 POS Touch Workstation incorporates Intel Mobile technology to increase the performance and energy efficiency of the all-in-one touch workstation. The 1870 is built on the 1800 Series platform and is designed to support increasingly complex POS application software such as real-time inventory information, CRM/loyalty, employee time clock, loss prevention and training.

Other key features of the 1870 Series include three-track MSR (magnetic stripe reader), internal DVD drive, hard-drive redundancy and failover options, integrated speakers, two-line by 20-character customer display, ability to drive a rear display, six powered serial ports and five USB ports.
