Tiger Tote Takes Social, Mobile Marketing Up a Notch

OpenStore by GasBuddy enabling store websites, deal alerts
GONZALES, Texas -- Tiger Tote, a chain of 22 convenience stores in south central Texas, has becoming one of the most recent clients for OpenStore by GasBuddy. New branded store websites for each location with clear in-store deals officially roll out later this month. Customers locate the closest Tote c-store by downloading a free mobile app on their smart phone. The app displays gasoline prices, locations, in-store promotions, food menus and more. Customers send feedback from their mobile phone, review job postings and receive time-sensitive electronic mobile coupons.

Customers [image-nocss] will be getting more deal alerts sent to mobile phones and more promotions sent via social media, giving them more reasons to check out Tiger Tote and The Tote c-stores.

"Tiger Tote continues to strive to be an industry leader by building strong relationships with customers and connecting to them via social media and mobile technology," said Colette Blount, director of marketing for Tiger Tote, Gonzales, Texas. "The opportunities with OpenStore by GasBuddy are exciting for us."

Jason Toews, co-founder and CEO of OpenStore by GasBuddy, said, "We are thrilled to collaborate with Tiger Tote and look forward to the possibilities that digital marketing strategies will provide them. OpenStore is a complete turnkey solution that will support Tiger Tote's strategies to reach their customers with targeted marketing and powerful messaging."

In 1985, Johnson Oil Co. opened its first c-store in Luling, Texas. The chain, known as Tiger Tote Food Stores, has grown to 22 stores located throughout 11 counties in Texas.

Houston-based OpenStore by GasBuddy increases customer loyalty by providing two-way communication with customers using leading edge web technologies and custom branded mobile applications. The OpenStore dashboard makes it easy to collect customer feedback, manage social media, deliver mobile coupons and text message campaigns all from one location.

Diversification helped fuel this growth as the company expanded into other aspects of the c-store business. In addition to its own proprietary delis, many Tiger Tote locations also offer branded fast-food selections such as Hot Stuff Pizza, Subway, Picadilly Pizza and Hunt Brothers Pizza, Dairy Queen, and McDonald's franchises. In 1998, the chain split away from Johnson Oil and became a separate corporation, Tiger Tote Food Stores Inc. This new c-store was named "The Tote." The company presently employs more than 400 people.
