VeriFone Expands Vx Solutions Lineup

Also, RBS Lynk awards $7 million contract to VeriFone

ATLANTA -- VeriFone Holdings Inc. has announced U.S. availability of the Vx 570 countertop payment solution, providing a next-generation migration path for users of the VeriFone Omni 3750 and filling out the Vx Solutions product family, which now includes a full range of countertop and wireless systems.

With availability of the Vx 570, the Vx Solutions product family now features a variety countertop systemsfrom single function to multi-application, IP-based systemsas well as portable wireless systems. The Vx Solutions products enable acquirers and Independent [image-nocss] Sales Organizations (ISOs) to meet the needs of merchants with a complete line of hardware and software solutions based on a single architectural platform.

The Vx 570 is a powerful successor to the Omni 3750 and provides customers with a logical migration path that offers seamless backward compatibility, said Paul Rasori, VeriFone vice president of product marketing. Vx Solutions was architected to ensure our channel partners can smoothly migrate their merchant customers, who can continue to leverage their existing Omni 3750 applications while enjoying added speed and performance benefits and greater flexibility in the number and type of applications they operate.

The Vx 570 supports migration of Omni 3750 applications with minimal recertification, providing an easy upgrade path with greater memory, a faster processor, large paper roll, enhanced display and a USB port. The Vx 570 features optional memory up to three times greater than the industry standard VeriFone Omni 3750 to run more and varied applications. It includes a future-proof communications module that can be configured initially with a dial or a combination dial-and-Ethernet communications capability and can be swapped at a later date.

The feature rich Vx 570 is complemented at the entry point level by the Vx 510 and Vx 510LE. Hundreds of thousands of these units have already been deployed worldwide, including those sold under the Omni 3730 and Omni 3730LE labels as they were originally introduced in the U.S. These systems are now being repositioned in the Vx Solutions family to reflect that they run on the Verix V application platform, the foundation for the Vx Solution family, and are already certified with most major processors. The Vx 510 and Vx 510LE provide extraordinary performance in a sleek, compact design that's ideal for a wide variety of retailers. Incorporating a built-in thermal printer with drop-in clamshell paper loading, the Vx 510 and Vx 510LE feature a bright backlit display, ATM-style interface and on-screen prompts.

Wireless members of the Vx Solutions family include the Vx 610 portable powerhouse, and the upcoming Vx 670which the company said is the industry's smallest all-in-one wireless handheld payment system. The Vx 610 uses Wi-Fi, CDMA and GPRS wireless technologies and features long battery life and high capacity. The Vx 670, which will be formally introduced later this spring, is a lightweight and fully functional mobile payment system with a case that is impact-resistant and spill-resistant.

All Vx Solutions include a 32-bit ARM9 microprocessor and a consistent user interface across multiple form factors and price points, and they leverage the newer Verix V platform as well as existing Verix application development to reduce time to market.
