WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Worsley Operating Corp. is extending its broadband network to cover the Lil Cricket convenience store brand it acquired earlier this year, after signing a new deal with Transaction Network Services. The new deal builds on the success Worsley has achieved with TNS' FusionPoint solution since switching to broadband just two years ago.
Worsley has 210 stores throughout North and South Carolina. In 2006, its stores changed from dial-up to IP communications for their ATM and POS terminals by using the TNS FusionPoint solution. Worsley uses FusionPoint to simplify its communications [image-nocss] infrastructure for debit and credit-card transactions, fuel tank monitoring and a variety of backoffice applications. The solution will now be used in the 88 newly acquired Lil Cricket c-stores across South Carolina.
Kevin Kolb, IT director at Wilmington, N.C.-based Worsley, said, "TNS' FusionPoint solution is playing a crucial role in enabling us to consolidate communications at all of our stores. We are planning on expanding our capabilities in the near future by using this solution to support PaySpot (prepaid cards) and TeleCheck (check verification) services. One of the key benefits is the timeliness of data getting to our corporate systems. With many processes online, it is a quick and simple process. The solution also benefits our customers by increasing the speed of card payment processing. Customer wait time has been significantly reduced since implementing FusionPoint, compared to the previous dial-up service."
By taking advantage of FusionPoint, Worsley can rely on the security and performance of TNS' PCI-DSS certified backbone network and 24x7x365 helpdesk services with live real-time support. TNS also provides all necessary network components and communications hardware essential for this application, it said.
Reston, Va.-based TNS is an international data communications company that enables payments, money and voices to move around the world through a range of networking, communications and services, which it provides to retailers, banks/processors, telecommunications companies and financial markets. TNS has designed and implemented multiple data networks, each designed specifically for the transport of transaction-oriented data. TNS' networks support a variety of widely accepted communications protocols and are designed to be scalable and accessible by multiple methods.
