Anabi Oil has been family owned and operated for more than 20 years. Sam Anabi was born and raised in Yonkers, N.Y., and moved to California to train in the Los Angeles Sheriff's Academy. While at the academy, he opened his first gas station in 1991 in the City of Baldwin Park. He was employed by the La Verne Police Department where he met his wife Rene and was married in 1995. Over the years, the company has grown by buying and selling stations, converting bays into convenience stores, adding car washes, partnering with fast food brands and building ground-up, new-to-industry locations. Their growth has expanded their experience to that of buyer, seller, lease dealer, open dealer, franchisee, owner, contract operator and wholesale distributor--virtually all classes of trade within the gasoline retailing industry.

Anabi continues to be a consistent, top-performing chain for Shell when it comes to image, customer service and volume growth, the company says. As a result of its efforts, Anabi received a wholesale contract with Shell in 2010. Anabi is currently one of the largest Shell branded fuel distributors in California, selling and delivering gasoline and diesel fuel from Los Angeles to the San Francisco Bay area. The company's competitive advantages are its clean, modern c-stores in strategically selected locations and its emphasis on offering brand-name merchandise.
