American Retail Services (ARS) was founded in 2003 and owns and/or operates 142 convenience-store sites in Arizona, California, Oregon, Utah and Washington, including one cardlock and one site without fuel. Twenty sites are kiosks. ARS is operated by parent company MYOBZ LLC. The company added nine sites in 2014 and 2015.
About half of the stores are part of a Shell multistore operation agreement (MSO), whereby ARS operates the convenience store for the fuel brand but doesn't own the unit. These stores are in California, Utah and Arizona. Separately, ARS owns stores in Washington and Oregon, plus some in California.
Stores carry beer and wine. Sizes range from kiosks that offer candy and cigarettes in addition to gasoline, to newer stores of 4,000 or more square feet. One site in Arizona is similar to a truck stop. The millennial generation, males and females, is the company's target audience. Most sites are open 24 hours.
The chain has no website for the general public but operates an Intranet site to provide information for its stores. ARS does not use social media marketing.
