Meijer Gas Stations

Grocery-store chain Meijer opened its first gas station in 1967 and its first convenience store in 1987. The company decided to open c-stores to provide another level of convenience for its customers.

Meijer-branded items such as soft drinks, milk and snacks are common in its c-stores. The company is a member-owner of Topco Associates, a privately held cooperative company that leverages the volume of its membership to offer private-label products.

Many of Meijer’s c-stores and supercenters are LEED-certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. Company stations offer a variety of fuels in addition to gasoline grades, including diesel, kerosene, propane and alternative fuels, such as E-85 and compressed natural gas at select sites. The company also owns and operates two tunnel car washes. It also has relationships with owners of rollover bay car washes, which are leased near stores.

Customers can use a Meijer’s credit card to receive 5 cents off per gallon of gas. Purchases at the pump and in c-stores also count toward the Meijer’s loyalty program, called mPerks rewards. Fleet drivers can use their WEX (Wright Express) Voyager fuel cards at Meijer gas stations. Meijer’s Facebook page has more than1 million friends.
