"Everybody" is the target customer of Roadrunner Markets. Its mission, according to the company website, is “to delight the customer in a way that makes them come back tomorrow.”

Stores have similar but not the exact same layouts, but the concept is the same, offering quality products combined with great customer service. That has been a commitment since the company was founded in May 1977. In 1980, its first convenience store opened in Greeneville, Tenn. While the stores all are located in the southeast, the majority can be found in northeast Tennessee.

The chain's prototype store was designed in 2010 to streamline its operations, expand foodservice and emphasize customer service. Decorated in red, yellow and black and measuring between 4,000 and 5,000 square feet, depending on the location, the stores also feature attached Dunkin' Donuts restaurants, adding another 2,000 square feet to the store.

Many of the stores fly the Shell gasoline brand, while others are branded BP and Sunoco. Besides gasoline, several of the stations offer kerosene, diesel and racing gasoline. Customers can have their car washed at 14 locations that feature touchless or soft-cloth washes. Besides the convenience stores, Mountain Empire Oil Co. also operates a Shell-branded fuel center in Baileyton, Tenn.

The chain is very active on social-media, engaging with Roadrunner Market customers through Facebook and Twitter, where followers are notified of special discounts, contests and other promotions. Roadrunner Market TV also broadcasts videos to customers on YouTube.
