RaceTrac Petroleum Inc., which began in 1934, operates 360 stores under the RaceTrac brand. The company also licenses dealer-operated stores called RaceWay. RaceWay operators pay a commission per gallon of gasoline sold; inside inventory and sales are the responsibility of the operator. All the stores sell the company's proprietary gasoline brand.
In the past several years, RaceTrac has opened more than 100 stores, with aggressive development continuing. Most RaceTracs features 20 to 24 fueling positions and a more-than 4,000-square-foot convenience store, featuring more than 4,000 items. In 2012, RaceTrac introduced the RT6K, a 6,000-square-foot floor plan, which features 360-degree brick walls, 10 Swirl World Yogurt flavors with more than 40 toppings, outdoor and indoor seating and free Wi-Fi.
