Located on the interstate system across 43 states in the United States and in Canada, TravelCenters of America serves professional truckers, motorists, bus drivers and tour guides and their passengers. With most of its locations along freeway exits, the “TA” and “Petro” travel centers offer customers diesel and gasoline fueling services, full- and quick-service restaurants, heavy-truck maintenance services, 24-hour convenience stores, Wi-Fi and other services, all within large, high-traffic facilities. A single loyalty program called “Ultra One” serves the TA and Petro sites.

The company also owns and operates convenience stores in 11 Midwest states and has been growing that segment of its business through acquisition since 2013, when it purchased the Minit Mart stores from Fred’s Minit Mart LCC of Bowling Green, Ky. In 2015, the company acquired or had agreements to acquire about 200 gas stations/convenience stores in Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin. TA bought 21 c-stores in Kentucky from Traxx Cos, parent of Thoroughbred Energy. As part of that purchase, it also will acquire and operate 13 additional principally leased locations upon the seller satisfying certain closing conditions. The portfolio includes the 34 stores and their related fuel supply contracts and wholesale fuel supply contracts for another 11 dealer locations. All stores average more than 3,100 square feet.

TA also acquired 19 GasMart USA sites in Missouri and Kansas, and the company may add quick-service restaurants at some of these locations to complement existing quick-serve restaurants. Other acquisitions in 2015 include 20 stores in Minnesota from Best Oil (Little Stores), six stores in Kentucky from Cheers Food & Fuel (Golightly & Long LLC), 33 Fast N Fresh stores in northern Illinois from (MKM Oil Co.) and seven Stop-A-Sec sites in Wisconsin.
