Country Fair is a division of the United Refining Co. of Warren, Pa. Its mission is to "create a pleasant shopping experience for every customer, every time, by total commitment to meet or exceed customer expectations in all respects." United Refining also owns the Kwik Fill/ Red Apple chain of stores and operates them as a separate division.

Many of Country Fair's 71 locations are open 24 hours a day for customer convenience. Most locations have CITGO fuel, but stores in Ohio sell fuel under the Country Fair brand. The chain’s typical customers are blue-collar workers.

The chain was purchased by United Refining in 2001. Most stores still retain one or two red barn-like exterior walls in a nod to the chain's history. A major focus for the chain continues to be foodservice. Key competitors are Sheetz and Wawa.
