As reported in a 21st Century Smoke/CSP Daily News Flash, the purchase includes 15 convenience stores and a commercial real-estate portfolio.

The acquisition was effective Nov. 10, 2015, the company said.

In response to the growth from this and other deals, Jacksons--which said it has added more than 1,000 new employees in the past year--is expanding its home office in Meridian, Idaho. The new facility will increase office space by 50% to more than 34,000 square feet, it said.

Premium Oil was founded by Paul Q. Callister, along with investors, Jack Vincent, Fred C. Staines and the Bamberger Group in the late 1920s. The company purchased land throughout Utah and into Idaho and Nevada, and grew to 48 service stations.

In 1944, during World War II, as a result of fuel supplies being rationed, it started a second company was started called Premoco. This maximized fuel allocations. Today, these two companies remain separate, however operate as one. The chain evolved with the industry from service stations to snack shops to neighborhood convenience stores.

It continues to be privately owned and operated.

Founded as a single store in 1975 by John Jackson, family-run Jacksons has more than 200 convenience stores in five states, most recently adding and rebranding 13 c-stores with car washes that it acquired from Danny's Family Cos., Scottsdale, Ariz., in early 2015.

In February 2013, the company purchased Pettit Oil's branded dealer business in the Pacific Northwest, bringing its distributorship to more than 700 locations in eight states.

Jacksons is the third-largest privately held corporation in Idaho. The company has 228 company-operated convenience stores in Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Arizona and now Utah. In addition, Jackson Oil now wholesales branded fuel to more than 854 locations throughout nine western states. Jacksons also owns its grocery distribution.
