MARYSVILLE, Kansas -- Kramer Oil Co. has purchased Trails 'N Rails in Marysville, Kansas. The location will be called CJ Express, and it will be the second convenience store for Kramer Oil.
The closing date of the property will be April 30, and the store is slated to reopen on May 1, the company said.
The store will begin accepting Kramer Oil's proprietary Kramer cards by the end of May, it added.
"Purchasing Trails 'N Rails enables Kramer Oil to offer a more convenient location for its current customers as well as new customers in Marysville on the west side of town," vice president Chad Kramer said.
Trails N Rails, owned by CIT LLS, started as a convenience store in 2011. Overland Park, Kansas-based CarterEnergy has been providing fuel for Trails N Rails since it opened.
Trails ‘N Rails—open 24 hours a day--offers amenities including fuel, fresh meals and groceries. Among the types of freshly prepared food items are pastries, crispy chicken, pizza, ribs, brisket, meatloaf and more. Trails N Rails has a smoker, which makes deliciously smoked meat every day. The food is fresh, the pastries are made daily, and he offers a large selection of sides. It also offers a food delivery service.
CIT owner Dave Lyhane told The Marysville Advocate that he would continue to work on his other Marysville businesses, including catering and barbecue, rental homes, self-storage units and other projects.
He thanked the community for support for the past three-and-a-half years and encouraged support of CJ Express. "I spent a lot of time trying to make it nice for the community," he said of Trails 'N Rails.
A Casey's General Store is also slated for the area, said the report. Bill Walljasper, senior vice president and CFO for the Ankeny, Iowa based chain of more than 1,600 convenience stores in the Greater Midwest, expects it to open within three or four months, he told the newspaper.
Kramer Oil, also based in Marysville, also offers unattended cardlock facilities in Barnes, Beattie, Clifton, Green, Greenleaf, Herkimer, Linn and Washington, Kansas, leased cardlocks in Aurora and Jamestown, Kansas, bulk plants in Marysville and Washington, as well as the original CJ Express convenience store in Marysville.
