In July, the FDA also announced intentions to develop product standards for the e-cigarette and vaping segments. These standards will look to “protect against known public health risks” on batteries and the potential exposure of children to liquid nicotine.
The agency did not, however, outline when the specifics of these product standards would be announced.
“The important thing to remember is we have a long road to go,” Kevin Roberts, director of regulatory affairs and communications for Pompano Beach, Fla.-based Logic Technology Development LLC, said of potential battery and e-liquid regulations. “It was an advanced notice of proposed rulemaking—this is going to be a yearslong process.”
