Twenty percent of consumers said that they’re eating more sweet and salty snacks than they were in 2016, which is more than any other snack type, according to the 2018 Snacking Occasion Consumer Trend Report from Technomic. Some retailers are combing both of these flavors into a single snack. In June 2019, Kwik Trip, La Crosse, Wis., debuted Glazers Chips—potato chips that mimic the brand’s Glazers Donuts—in 642 stores nationwide. The sweet and salty chips were the latest addition to Kwik Trip’s private-label snack line.
