A-B Gains a New VP

Gaines named vice president of small format for Anheuser-Busch

ST. LOUIS -- Twenty-year industry veteran and convenience channel steward Tony Gaines has been named the new vice president of small format (convenience, drug and dollar stores) for Anheuser-Busch, CSP Daily News has learned.

The position is effective April 2.

"I look forward to my new challenge and meeting the standards that Manny Zayas had set before me," Gaines said. "I promise to continue to drive his standards on improving the beer business in the channel and the business of Anheuser-Busch. With over 15% of merchandise sales coming from A-B products in beer selling stores, I am well aware and committed to continue Manny's work in the channel."

Gaines previously worked as director of national accounts for E&J Gallo Winery, bringing wine into many convenience stores.

He joined St. Louis-based A-B in January.

Based in St. Louis, Anheuser-Busch, the U.S. subsidiary of Belgium-based Anheuser-Busch InBev, brews Budweiser and Bud Light and distributes these and many other brands through a network of more than 500 independent wholesalers. It also owns a 50% share in Grupo Modelo, Mexico's leading brewer.
