CHICAGO — Following the Memorial Day holiday, alcohol delivery company Drizly looked at what consumers were ordering and drinking over the long weekend (May 27-30).

The answer? Ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages—in a huge way—and tequila, according to Drizly data.

Drizly found that RTDs sold better than hard seltzer on Drizly. Specifically:

  • The percent share of the RTD subcategory surpassed that of the hard seltzer category on Drizly for the first time during Memorial Day weekend. RTDs held 4.8% share over Memorial Day weekend, while hard seltzer held 4.4% share.
  • High Noon came in at the No. 3 spot on the top-selling spirits brands on Drizly during Memorial Day weekend 2022, up from the No 7 during 2021’s Memorial Day weekend. Cutwater Spirits also made significant gains when comparing Memorial Day weekend 2022 with 2021, moving from spot 31 to 13.

Tequila SKUs continued their growth spurt during the long weekend:

  • Three of the five top-selling spirits SKUs were tequila. This is a shift from Memorial Day 2021, when the only tequila brand to sit in the top five was Casamigos Blanco.
  • On Drizly during Memorial Day weekend 2022, vodka held only 1 percentage point over tequila in percent share of all liquor sales, 22% versus 21%.

The top-selling liquor SKUs were:

  • Tito’s Handmade Vodka
  • Casamigos Blanco
  • High Noon Hard Seltzer variety pack
  • Clase Azul Reposado Tequila
  • Espolon Tequila Blanco

Last year, the top-selling liquor SKUs were:

  • Tito’s Handmade Vodka
  • Casamigos Blanco
  • Jameson Irish Whiskey
  • Hennessy V.S Cognac
  • Grey Goose Vodka
