BioSteel Expands to 15,000 Stores

Sports drink to be sold in Sheetz, grocery retailers

SMITH FALLS, Ontario —BioSteel Sports Nutrition Inc. is expanding its sports drinks to more than 15,000 stores across the United States, including convenience stores.

It will now be sold at new retailers including Altoona, Pa.-based convenience-store chain Sheetz. Other new stores include grocery and drug chains Albertsons Co., Food Lion, Giant Food, Publix, Stop & Shop and Rite Aid.

BioSteel, from Smith Falls, Ontario-based Canopy Growth Corp., is a clean sports drink made with zero sugar, essential electrolytes and without harmful colors and preservatives, according to the company. The drink comes in single-serve 16.7-ounce Tetra Paks and new four-packs in certain retailers. Its flavors including Blue Raspberry, Mixed Berry, Peach Mango, Rainbow Twist and White Freeze.

“We’ve seen strong growth and customer retention rates among athletes and health-conscious consumers, and with these new deals, we’re able to make our sugar-free, ready to drink sports drinks even more accessible,” said John Celenza, co-CEO and co-founder of BioSteel.

Celenza and his business partner and NHL veteran Michael Cammalleri founded BioSteel in 2009. In October 2019, Canopy Growth announced it had purchased a majority stake in BioSteel Sports Nutrition Inc.
