DENVER — Choice Market is removing all single-use plastic water bottles from its convenience stores by 2021 to reduce plastic waste.

The Denver-based retailer will install FloWater Refill Stations at its current and future locations.

The water stations take tap water and remove up to 99.9% of all impurities, viruses, toxins and heavy metals, according to the company. Customers can refill their reusable water bottles with the no-contact dispensing nozzles or purchase one of FloWater’s aluminum multiuse water bottles to fill for $2.99.

“At Choice, there’s nothing more important than the communities we serve,” said Choice Market Founder and CEO Mike Fogarty. “Single-serve plastic water bottles are one of the leading items sold in our industry and yet most of these bottles end up in the landfill or the ocean. We couldn’t be more excited to partner with FloWater to provide our customers with its convenient, great-tasting water solution while also reducing our plastic footprint.”

Denver-based FloWater created a seven-stage water purification and enhancement system that eliminates contaminants that can be found in tap water and delivers drinking water that dispenses into any size of reusable container, eliminating the plastic waste and toxicity caused by single-use plastic water bottles, according to the company.

Choice Market, founded in 2017, has two locations in downtown Denver, with three more slated to open by the end of 2020.
