GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. -- Dollar General Corp. is testing customers' taste for adult beverages sales in some of its 9,000 stores, according to a report by The Post & Courier.
The discount chain, with $11.8 billion in sales last year, is experimenting with alcohol sales in some regional stores for the first time, spokesperson Emily Weiss told the newspaper.
Recently filed U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) filings cited by the paper show the chain, through an entity called Dolgencorp LLC, is seeking approval from the South Carolina Department [image-nocss] of Revenue to sell beer and wine for off-premise consumption at nearly all of its locations in the Charleston, S.C., region as well as Walterboro, S.C.
