Beverage makers play up "new-age pop culture" with Marley's Mellow Mood, Chronic Ice

CHICAGO -- Marley Beverage Co. has rolled out Marley's Mellow Mood, a new line of relaxation beverages. The 100% natural teas and sodas are designed to reduce stress and relieve tension. Created in partnership with the family of Bob Marley, Marley's Mellow Mood is available in two varieties: lightly carbonated sodas which are packaged in 12-oz. Rexam Sleek cans and ready-to-drink teas.

Both varieties are formulated with an exotic blend of calming and stress-reducing ingredients including chamomile, valerian root, passionflower, melatonin, rose hips and lemon balm.

Marley [image-nocss] Beverage chose to launch the sodas in the Rexam Sleek can because it delivers brand differentiation, helps the beverage stand out on retail shelves and is an excellent environmental and sustainability choice with a recycle rate at more than double any other beverage package option.

Marley's Mellow Mood is expanding and is now available in supermarkets, convenience stores, natural food stores and other retail locations in more than 60 U.S. markets, and in nearly a dozen countries.

A portion of proceeds from the sale of Marley's Mellow Mood go to 1Love.org, the Marley family nonprofit initiative that continues the legacy of Bob Marley by supporting charities that empower youth, protect the planet and promote peace.

Bob Marley is a global icon, a musical prophet whose words and vision forever changed the world, said the company. His image and music evoke a rich legacy and emotional connection that transcends generation, ethnicity, gender and geography. In today's high paced, tech-driven world, Bob Marley's message of unity, freedom, peace, empowerment and love have never been more relevant. Marley Beverage Co. was created by the family of Bob Marley, paying homage to their father and patriarch by launching and promoting healthy, natural drinks that are 100% natural and have ingredients that put people into what we call, "Marley's Mellow Mood."

Marley Beverage is manufacturing and marketing the new drinks in a joint partnership with ViVa Beverages, Southfield, Mich.

Separately, Chronic Ice, the nation's first drink containing hemp, has made its debut in the healthy beverage market. The tea is made with organic sugar cane, a green and black tea blend, lemon essence, ascorbic acid and hemp seed extract.

"People don't get high drinking our tea, but they can get healthy," said Tony Van Pelt, founder of Chronic Ice. "Although its name is a play on marijuana, Chronic Ice does not contain any cannabis or THC."

Each serving of the antioxidant-rich drink contains 80 calories per serving, and it is free of preservatives and high-fructose corn syrup.

Currently, Chronic Ice can only be purchased at select stores in Southern California and Washington. The company is negotiating distribution deals to increase availability. In addition to expansion plans, several product improvements are in the works. This summer the company plans to launch new flavor options, start bottling in modern aluminum bottles dressed up with slick new labels, and implement new policies for sourcing 100% of the health tea's ingredients through organic fair trade suppliers.
