Jiffy Mart to Launch PepsiCo Dream Machine Initiative

Recycling kiosks reward users, support causes

WESTMINSTER, Md. -- Jiffy Mart is rolling out the PepsiCo Dream Machine recycling program at participating Jiffy Mart convenience stores, providing employees and customers with a convenient and rewarding way to recycle their bottles and cans while on the go.

The Dream Machine recycling initiative, created by PepsiCo Inc. in collaboration with Waste Management, is introducing thousands of recycling bins and kiosks at public locations across North America, such as gas stations, stadiums and public parks.

Dream Machine kiosks are computerized receptacles that include a personal reward system, powered by Greenopolis, which allows users to earn points for every bottle or can they recycle in the kiosk and redeem those points for local discounts on entertainment, dining and travel at www.greenopolis.com.

Additionally, the more bottles and cans people recycle in the Dream Machines at select Jiffy Marts and in Dream Machine kiosks and bins across the nation, the more support PepsiCo will provide to the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV), a national program offering free experiential training in entrepreneurship and small-business management to post-9/11 U.S. veterans with disabilities.

"At Jiffy Mart, we are excited to add the Dream Machine program to our ongoing green efforts. Currently, we recycle water from our car wash, and last year, we partnered with BG&E for lighting upgrades at our Finksburg and Airpark locations--which has already shown kilowatt savings of 234,000 annually, equating to 117 tons of coal or 90 tons of CO2," said Tom Moser, general manager for Tevis Oil/Jiffy Mart. "Partnering with PepsiCo and Waste Management, bringing the Dream Machine to our Jiffy Mart locations will allow us to provide a convenient and rewarding way for our customers, associates and community to help the environment."

With approximately 4,000 Dream Machine bins and kiosks now located in 40 states, the program aims to create strategic partnerships to help increase the U.S. beverage container recycling rate to 50% by 2018.

"Experience tells us that people are much more likely to recycle if it's convenient, and they are rewarded for doing so," said Paul Wolff, operations manager at Greenopolis. "We look forward to working with Jiffy Mart to enable a recycling experience that is fun and rewarding on many levels."

Jeremy Cage, senior vice president and head of the Dream Machine Recycling Initiative for PepsiCo., said, "We are so pleased that Jiffy Mart has partnered with the Dream Machine program to make Dream Machines available to employees and customers. Those who recycle in a Dream Machine can earn rewards and help make a real difference for our planet and in the lives of disabled U.S. veterans."

The Dream Machines are provided by GreenOps, LLC, a subsidiary of Recyclebank, and operated by Greenopolis, the first interactive recycling system that brings together online and on-street technologies.
